If the author you're researching is represented in Literature Resource Center (GALE) and/or Literary Reference Center (EBSCO), read biographical information about the author to gain clues about important historical events or issues the author experienced. In Literature Resource Center (GALE), look at the "Topic and Work Overviews" tab for articles providing historical or social background on individual works. The "Literature Criticism" tab may also contain articles that provide historical background.
If you need more information, try history REFERENCE resources. You can search the library catalog just for reference resources. To limit, just choose "Reference" under "Limit to" below the search box.
