Films from Kanopy may only be requested by faculty from the Gavilan Library. The library may purchase access for 1 year at a time upon faculty request. To view films that are currently licensed to Gavilan go to https://gavilan.kanopy.com.

• Documentary, independent, and feature films
• Use the search icon in the upper right corner to search the catalog.

Kanopy/Gavilan Account

You will be asked to create a Kanopy account to access Gavilan licensed films.

1. When you click on Log In, you will be asked if you are accessing through a public library or college or university. 
2. Select college or university and look up Gavilan 
3. You will then be prompted to enter your name and email address and set a password.

You will then be presented with the films that Gavilan has licensed.

Faculty wanting to request a film not already licensed, complete the request form.

Kanopy Video can be added to your canvas shell. You can include by linking as a 'module' or embedding the video in a canvas page.

To embed the video.

1) Create/Log into your Gavilan account at Kanopy.com

2) Find the film and click on the Share icon

3) Choose the Embed tab and copy the code

4) In Canvas, open the page you want to embed the video into. Select the Embed option from the Insert menu in the editor and paste the code you copied from Kanopy and click the Submit button. 

5) Save the page
