LibKey Research Tool

   What is LibKey Nomad?

LibKey Nomad is a research tool that works within your web browser. When you're  browsing websites that contain academic articles such as Google Scholar, Wikipedia, or Pub Med,  LibKey automatically checks if Gavilan Library has access to them.  If so, you can access with your G00 number. Simply look for the navy-blue button with the green teardrop. Watch this video tutorial for a demonstration.

How Do I Get Libkey Nomad?

1. Visit the Download Page at Third Iron.

2. Choose Your Browser: Libkey Nomad is available for several browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. Decide which browser you want to use.

3. Search for "Libkey Nomad": Enter "Libkey Nomad" in the search bar of your browser's extension or add-on store.

4. Click "Add" or "Install": Once you've found the Libkey Nomad extension, click the button that says "Add to Chrome," "Add to Firefox," or the equivalent for your browser. Confirm any permissions if prompted.

5. Select Gavilan College: After installing, Libkey Nomad will prompt you to choose your institution from a dropdown list. This step is crucial because it ensures you get access to Gavilan Library's content.

6. Start Browsing: Now, whenever you're on a website with academic articles such as Google Scholar, Wikipedia, or Pub Med, etc., Libkey Nomad will automatically check if we provide access to them. If available, you'll see an icon or notification allowing direct access to the article.

If you see the "download pdf" icon, the article is available for immediate,

full-text access via your G00 number.

If you see the "access options" icon, please visit or call the

Gavilan Library at (408) 848-4806 so staff can order the article from our partner libraries.
